   WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RISK FACTORS FOR BREAST CANCER?

Increasing age

Family History

First birth after age 30

Never haven given birth

Any previous breast surgery

Previous history of Breast Cancer

Early onset of menopause

Late onset menopause

 AT WHAT AGE SHOULD I GET A MAMMOGRAM?

Baseline by age 40

Screening every 1-2 years age 40-49

Every year after age 50

Your physician may recommend that you begin mammogram testing earlier, if you have a family history of breast cancer.

      

             

HOW COMMON IS BREAST CANCER?  

Breast cancer affects 1 in every 8 women. About 150,000 American women are diagnosed yearly. In the U.S. alone, the annual death rate from breast cancer is 44,000 women. 

 

MYTH VS. TRUTH

"Men don't get breast cancer"

Actually, men can get breast cancer. It is , however, very rare and less than 1% of all cancer cases.
